Decoy display stands

So I have another project. I have several old decoys that I don?t believe are worth much but they are real cool. We brought them up to the cabin as it fits the decor better there than here. My wife wants to put them out. And is thinking of putting them on top of some rustic boxes. I?m thinking there has got to be a better way. There decoys will be underneath an open staircase going upstairs to the loft which means they will be sitting on something on the floor. I figure maybe someone here might have some suggestions to display 3-5 decoys. Something I can build. Good thing Diane wants something rustic as I should be able to accomplish this pet without even trying if you know what I mean.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

How about making an epoxy platform that would simulate water, and hang them with monofilament from the step.

My plans if I ever get a round tuit, is to put shelving up around the family room about a foot down from the ceiling. Think waterfowler's crown molding. The shelving would consist of 2 parallel 3" boards separated by a gap large enough to accept any of my decoy's keels. I've got the antique iron brackets* I want to use, as well as the boards, but that round tuit is tough to find. (* I'm sure Eric and Steve would use fancy wood brackets)

Thanks for the suggestions. Ken - that is very nice and something I'll throw by the chief decision maker. It would fit perfectly on the post holding up the stairs.
