Decoy patterns...

One of the joys that keeps me fresh after carving decoys over 25 years is making my own patterns. I do like to at times copy the masters as they made awesome patterns. I highly encourage any carver to make their own patterns. It's a real thrill to see a decoy go from idea to sketch to pattern to a three dimensional decoy. Here are some patterns I did over spring break while in Florida. I can't wait to carve some of these puppies... Who knows, some may show up at Westlake next year...

God bless and keep carving... Pat

Looking nice brother. Certainly have your signature. I could identify most of them as your even without knowing.

Pat once you have made them from card and you are quite happy with them do you transfer them to thin plywood so they last a bit longer, and reference the scale of the drawing, is this a set scale or is it done by eye.
Eddie.

Nice stuff Pat. I thought I was the only one to use cereal boxes!!
Maybe some day my decoys will loook as good as yours.
Thanks for the post, John
