I am thinking hard about starting to build a Devlin "Snow Goose". I have the tools. I am trying to work out where to build - my shop won't quite work so I am considering a temporary shelter. And I am looking for any nearby experienced builder to visit with to try to get started right.

You mean like this?

I built a Snow Goose in a temporary shelter and it was great until the winter time. These temporary shelters that are purchased at The cheapo boxes aren't worth a darn in the winter. And, you'll want to tie them down with good anchors and line. Nonetheless, you'll get the neighborhood in a tiz. Everyone wants to know what the heck you are doing in there One guy thought I had a meth lab because I'd come out looking like I went through hell. ; ) Good luck.

Meth Lab...HEHEHE..... Too funny, My neighbors were dying to know what I was up to as well. I left them in the dark for a couple of weeks before I told them,"I was starting my tomatos early this year"

Mark,
Are you Dr. Mark Albrecht the vet who does TPLO surgeries? If so you diagnosed my field trial Golden with a spinal issue about seven years ago up in Kalispell at Dr Otto's office. My hunting buddy and I built a Snow Goose up here a few years ago and I'm in the middle of a modified Cackler build right now. If you still travel around to vet clinics and happen to be nearby, you are welcome to visit. I work in Bigfork, five minutes from home, so I could take a break about any time and show you both boats.

Even if you are a different Mark Albrecht, you are still welcome to visit.

John-
Yes it is Dr. Albrecht. I remember your Golden was a Field Trial dog and I think got a win after surgery - did you ever finish the dog? You went to WSU for surgery - correct?

Dr.Otto recently sold his clinic to Dr. Kevon Clark from Butte - good guy.

I am in Bozeman full time now, doing my referral surgery and I also own a general practice with 3 associates - so I get busy, but Bigfork is not too far away to visit and make sure I am on the right track. I want to build a boat for use and relaxation. I still hunt with several field trialers over in ND. E-mail me at mralbrecht@msn.com.

Mark,

You may want to make a trip over to Livingston, MT and talk with the guys there at Montana Boatbuilders. I think they are still located a few miles out into Paradise Valley. I believe the guy who started the shop used to work for Sam Devlin before moving to Montana. The guys there know this method of construction inside and out and have built a design similar to the snow goose.
