Dick Proenneke

It plays once or twice a year on PBS locally and when I see it I watch it..every time. The things dreams are made of .... for me anyway. If I was an unattached young man I might look into that type of adventure but now I must live it through shows like that.

Question, I haven't sprung for the book...sounds like it's worth it even after seeing the show many times. Should I get the book?

I have read it several times and like to read it to dream of that type of adventure. It was written from his journal and takes it day by day. I would be happy to lend it to you and you can decide for yourself if you would want to by one.

Let me know.

Thanks for the offer but I should just get it for myself. Those types of books are just fun to have on the shelf. I'm going to find it and order it right now. This post will get my off my duff. Should have done it several years ago...just procrastinating..no excuse now...but thanks again for the offer.

:-) it's on the way. I see there are a couple of later books also. Anyone have them?

Dick was from Primgar, Iowa... I have the DVD and book... he is... abit of a hero to me.... that is the way to live!

OK, got the book over the holidays and just finished it. There is at least one other later book that I will now find a copy of to read. Also will probably get the movie/DVD. Just fun to watch.

Anyway, Andrew L and Ryan ...thanks for renewing my interest in this story...I enjoyed the read....what an adventure!

Thanks again for the offer to share but I think I'll just work on obtaining these other products over time.

Again, thanks for reminding me of this great story.

I have the DVD, and watch it at least once a year - makes you dream about what is possible in this world.
