I just had to post this picture of my Chessie Diesel. This was a Saturday afternoon hunt as business took up a lot of my time this season. It was about 80 degrees , barely any wind, sky was clear as a bell. Ringers were pouring in from all directions. If I had one of those camera guys with me, it would have made a good tv show. Maybe not perfect, but a lot better than watching those bearded characters. Rich

They said it will be -30 with wind chill, i can hear the wind howling outside. I think im going to skip ice fishing today.

The pup looks great. Im only 25 but i am becoming a cranky old guy in the winter. 80 degrees and shorts sounds like heaven as do ringers bombing into the decoys.

Chris, we did alright. It was like ice fishing on Hoth. Bitterly cold when the wind blew, but we hid behind an outcropping of rocks.

The largemouth were biting!!

Rich, thats a great picture. Does Diesel have soft thin ears? I ask because they look like Bella and I have not seen another Chessie with ears like hers.

Soft ears? Brandon I have had 15 chessies in my lifetime most had similar ears, them again most of my chessies were very closely related. My wife and I have gone to the American Chesapeake National show many times and looked at a ton of dogs. The biggest area of variation I have noticed seems to be in ear set and ear length. Rich

A couple of more shots from this hunt. Afternoon lighting is my favorite time to take pictures, and at my age my favorite time to hunt. Diesel had a blast retrieving these birds, I had just as much fun shooting them. Rich
