Discussion: Burlap, leafy cut, Military netting, or ??? for Boat Blind

Jay,
You may have gotten a pentagon. That is the largest panel the army used.
The way to tell if it's real military netting it will have plastic clips along the edges to
connect several pannels together. I've had some of this stuff for 30 years and it's
still good stuff if you don't get tangled in it. John

John, that's the stuff. The little clips etc.....when it was delivered the drunken wannabe Army dude at the surplus store called and freaked out,"Get this damn thing out of here...it's taken up the entire store....JAYSUS!"

I used the netting from Barre, but got it in desert tan because I felt the brown/green was too dark. This works well but it needs to be lined. I used a brown "blue" tarp, and it works well to block the wind and rain and to let some brown show through the tan netting. It doesn't drape as well as a nylon material in the fold down blinds but it was readily available at Home depot. I also added lead line to the bottom to hold the panels down in wind. This combo does not absorb water or freeze up.
All told, with netting, tarp, and 3/4" conduit, for a 19' boat, I'm under a 100 bucks.
