Hello, I am looking for some veteran advice on setting up a mixed spread of diver and puddle duck decoys. We hunt the chesapeake bay region and hunt shorelines along the main bay in addition to layout boats. I am having a hard time with decoying birds (especially the puddle ducks) landing outside the spread. I typically set up a J with divers at the tail and a few divers and puddle ducks on the hook. Spread is typically set with farthest decoy in the pocket out about 40 yards and the tail of the j goes about 65 or 70 yards down wind from the hook. We cannot get the birds to decoy inside the pocket or hook with any consistency. Birds will land just on the outside of the decoys or at about 50 yards. We target: bluebills, cans, redheads, an occasional goldeneye, mallards, and gadwall. Thanks in advance
