Does anyone have Experience hunting with Browning Semi-Auto Shotguns?

Thanks Capt Rich,

That is a good point about the parts. I do not know the answer to that. I guess I am going to have to look into that.

I see an awful lot of Auto-5s and Remington 1100s at the gun shows in my area. I never looked into the parts side of the equation.

Thanks.

Hi Cody,

That is what caught my attention on the new A-5. That shotgun just fits nice. My eye drops right down the barrel when I shoulder that firearm.

The prices are kind-of-high when compared to other options -I am always trying to save a buck.

I even got the nickname "El Cheapo" from my brother which I learned my nephew referred to me when talking with his father :)

When I purchased my maxus, I was really going to buy a new a5. It shoulder nice, however I felt the maxus actually shouldered better. I'd suggest going to a gun shop and shouldering both. 2 of my buddies have shouldered my maxus and agreed that it shoulders perfectly every time. They both own other high end semi offerings (Benelli Super Vinci and Remington VersaMax)

Thanks MLogan98,

I have the safety on as well but that is good point that you make about an accidental feed by flipping the switch on the magazine cut off. I am going to have to check that out. Thanks. Good to Know.

David,

Thanks for the tip on Teflon based lube and an interesting idea on using the break cleaner. I have that in the garage.

Hello Fred,

I will have to rethink the idea of using a full choke after reading Browning's recommendations for steel shot and shot patterns.

I would have to go with an improved modified it looks like.

Thanks for the tip on the DVD guide.

Hank,

The only one I have seen recently is from Shooting Investments and they want about $1,300 for a NIB 28". I think the price is a bit steep based upon the Blue Book of Gun Values. But it is there if you want it.

Dave,

Thanks for letting me know that there is no noticeable difference in shooting 2nd and 3rd shots with the A5 Magnum.

Good to know you were able to fix the A5 on your own and that there are parts available.

Brent,

The speed load is awesome. The Gold has that feature. It is a great way to load the gun especially on the clay range.

Frankly I should have bought my son the Maxus -easy take-down. That would be the gun for him.
