Dog beds, crate cushions?

What have people found that works well? This time of year I seem to be on my annual search for durable cushions that don't break the bank. Most of the $10-40 dollar commercial dog beds are pretty poor quality.

The best cushions I ever had were velour couch or love seat cushions I was given. They lasted a long time and the dogs really liked them. I have thought about talking to a local furniture store to see about getting used cushions if they remove used furniture when people purchase new.

Tonight I bought some lawn chair cushions on clearance for $10 each to get me through this season. I have looked at making my own and was shocked by the price of good foam rubber at the fabric stores. I thought maybe somone may have a good suggestion.

Kong makes a couple of good kennel cushion.

Have had this group of cushions since July and are still in fairly good shape.

I'll second what Craig said about Kong. I happened to be in a PetsMart in Albuquerque on Black Friday last year and picked one up for half price.

Primopads.com. That is one serious crate pad and you can strap it down to a wire kennel to keep them from pulling it up to chew on. We have had one 3.5 years and it is still good as new.

For bed - I use an old therapeutic foam mattress pad I cut to fit in a round Orvis cover. It's held up great for 6 years.

For crate - I use the Mud River crate pad. 6 years old and going strong.

I second the Mud River crate pads and I use the standard Orvis beds at home as well as some of the cheap Costco beds.

For a travel crate I third mud river crate pads. My dog can tear up anything but the mud river is going on a year old in good condition.

For day to day sleeping my dog prefers a queen sized bed.
