Ok... Kodi is absolutely driving me crazy! He keeps wrecking the kennel since we brought Otter home. He wants them to be together. I will not allow this. To many things can happen between a 90# and a 15# dog. So last weekend I put electric fencing up... And it worked. But then he started attacking the hog panel inside the building. I am thinking that I may put electric fence over this too. In a similar situation I had between a past adult male Chesapeake and lab pup I created a solid barrier between both . My runs are built of salt treated 4x4,s and 2x4 railings. I used 24" tall x 30" long old aluminum signs painted over. Fastened them so that solid surface of aluminum was on chessys side with fenceing exposed on pups side. Stopped the fence destruction. I would think plywood panels would work same way but are going to get chewed up eventually by your adult dog.
 
The joys of having a Chessie right there! Were they labs they wouldn't need a kennel and could sleep on the bed and not stink the house up AND you wouldn't have to worry about one eating the other. But hey, can't help beyond that :).

I guess Kodi should ha e thought of that before he tracked the cedar chips into the water dish... By standing in it.....to get a better position to destroy his kennel![mad]
 
Hey cousin! Yeah, Labs ARE a mite easier to deal with, although Bomber has had his Chessies in the house.
 
I want Otter to be 100% house trained before they spend ALOT of time on the dog beds together. Kodi doesn't want his bed smelling like puppy pee! The issue is not the Kodi will eat Otter. That being said, I do not believe that dogs should be kenneled in the same dog run, certainly not all day...but... with the size difference, and that we feed them in their kennels.

I thought this was a helpful forum.. not lab sheeple! We all know that you are jealous of my amazing beasts!

Were they labs... I would go and buy the fanciest, most expensive fad gear... Get in my 800HP ProDrive $80,000 duck boat... and drive 80 mph over 2" of water. then shoot myself!

Phil, Im not sure that labs are the most expensive dogs...silky haired english setters like this gorgeous sweetheart need big ass new trucks and a big ass camper to pull behind the new truck so that she can sleep in style. It is a good thing she is such a sweetheart and is willing to share her camper. I think she is teaching Drake to have higher, more expensive expectations too. He is too sweet to turn up his nose at my truck but you can definitely tell he is a happy feller in her big ass new truck. I better watch out that he doesnt start whispering about big fast boats in my ear.

Here’s my 2 cents worth. Is your kennel fence vinyl coated, if so change it to frost fence , some retrievers love that vinyl coating. Electric fencing can create some bad results with your older dog in a kennel. Seeing the picture you have of the 2 dogs walking together with some play time together is pretty smart.
I’m also not in favour of having a older dog & pup together all the time in a kennel, a lot of trainers don’t feel anything is gained by the pup , me too. Why not separate the the two altogether for there downtime, puppy in a crate in the house, then put them together for walks,socializing etc. When the pup gets to be around 6 to 8 months maybe then put them in separate runs. I may be a lab guy but I enjoy a well trained retriever of any breed. Too think a lab wouldn’t do what your Kodi is doing , have I got news for that BS!
