I have an enclosed blind on my boat. I take my two young sons hunting with me and they would like a heater. I am worried about the gas fumes getting caught in the blind. What type of heater do you guys use?
I have a ceramic heater from cabelas, and a coleman catalytic heater. Supposedly the coleman is ok for enclosed spaces. The ceramic heater cranks out the BTUs and is ok for cooking too.
I worry more about something catching fire or the Kid touching it and getting burned. My boat doesn't have enough room to feel comfortable with a heater going so I just shorten the trip for him.He would rather have a thermos of hot chocolate than a heater I think.
2 Paulin heaters, 1 up front, 1 back. They slide on a stainless drawer slide in and out of a stainless firebox, which is insulated with silicone glass welders cloth. Each heater puts out 15,000 BTUs and has a clicker lighter.
The front heater is ducted into an oven which gets up to about 420 degrees F.
You're in Texas according to your tagline - what do you need a heater for? Come on up to MN for a late season hunt and we will shop you when a heater is needed. Had my then 10 year old out last year for the last day of season uhnt and it was -14 when we left the house. He lasted 1 hour. We have no heater but I should consider acquiring one.
Just giving you some good natured crap. Keep the hunt short and the kids will enjoy it. They get bored easily and quickly.
Look at the map for the extreme duckboat tour. This boat has busted ice! Although if you guys don't get any cold weather up there, I may have to bring shorts
Carl,I think the Florida natives get cold easy. With a boat like that tou could have guide service and charge an extra hundred a day for heat.A tribute to your talent, Hitch.
We all would like to hunt that boat sometime.
man i felt good when we got into boat hunting and i was able too bring a tightly foiled up hot sandwich and a thermos with out worring about the weight for lunch does that oven keep your hindquarters warm when used as a bench? Hitch im truly jelous
ps im reminded of the old saying went off with out a hitch hmm going off with this Hitch involved don't seem so bad lol
Larry, i went from 3mm neoprene waders to 5mm neoprene waders and now i don't ever think about needing a heater. My feet use to freeze, even with 100% wool socks. i do keep a coleman black cat (catalytic convertor) heater and a small tank of propane on board for emergency's. After seeing Hitch's set-up, (and that apple freak'n pie!) I may have to re-consider my "no cooking in the boat" rule.
