Hi William, I also couldn't find anything on the boat from the internet, but am interested to know more about them.
We installed the 11hp custom mud motor, and slipped it in the water of a local gravel pit just before dark the other night to see how it would ride and handle. Although the motor/prop combination pushes the hull fine, I think we will have to cut the transom down a few more inches to try and get the center of gravity lower, as it feels as a typical canoe does.....Tippy, and I don't like it. I thought, I would be able to stand up to drive the boat, but no way, the highest I'm going to get in this boat is kneeling at best. I probably will become a bit more accustomed to the feel of it after I'm in it a bit more, but for 1rst impressions...a bit scary.
The measurement from the lowest point of the hull at transom to top of motor plate is 18", that's what the old plate was installed at, and we made a new one and installed it to the same height, but I'm going to cut it down some more. If there was room on the rear of transom, I would fab some trib tabs to try and make it more stable, but there isn't room for them. I'd had a quick thought of glassing in some long tapered wings from say maybe 4' up the sides from the rear of hull, in hopes it would take some of the tippyness out of it. It might look like a bat-boat, but it should help it..
My buddy and I agreed, that I should run it for awhile and see if I might get somewhat used to it, but kneeling on the floor to avoid having it tip over, is not my cup of tea as I'm used to big water rigs. It's easy enough to get wet in a stable boat when the weathers rough and dirty.
