Duck call inserts?

Question for fellow duck call makers.

What are your favored inserts to use?

I have played around with several different options from Hut Products, but I would really like to find some that are a little deeper and raspier.

I like the Little Dixie inserts both single a double reed easy to blow and depending on the density of the wood used etc have a great sound.

I am looking to make some calls with my Dad in December who is an avid wood turner.

My favored inserts to use are the ones I make myself. However, if you're looking for more of a mass produced insert from another manufacturer you can't go wrong with Echo's inserts. Enjoy!

Steve, Thanks for the reply.

My goal is to make my own at some point but I am not quite there yet. I have read that many people like the Echo's inserts, I have not made any calls yet using a complete insert/exhaust setup. So far all mine have been made from wood with just the plastic inserts inserted into the wood exhaust section.

The best and simplest insert everyone uses is the Echo poly. 95% of barrel makers use them. Simple to run and still deadly. Hell I run one on my lanyard along with a keyhole cutdown... which is a totally different animal. There are a few guys out there that make toneboard jigs if you want to start jigging your own inserts then your messing with reeds and trimming ears etc its a fun headache to get into.
