I believe the article was around 3 maybe 4 years ago, I should have purchased but did not. There was a great article about a hunter from I think Washington State that has traveled several time to Australia to hunt Duck, also shipping his boat down the second time down if I remember correctly.

Long story short I have shipping Questions as I am looking to relocate back home to Australia in the somewhat near future and looking to ship my boat and a classic VW along with my personal stuff. Also if anyone has relocated around the world with a dog I would like to hear some real world 1st hand experience.

Thanks
Andrew

Worth Mathewson was the author, I believe.

Our friends relocated from the Gulf Coast back to Germany about 6-7 years ago, took 2 vehicles, a UTV and their dog back with them.
The company paid for the move, they got a certain side shipping container and it was their to fill as they saw fit. It went back on a container ship.
Got there after they did.
Are you planning on paying yourself or will an employer pay?
From what I hear, a lot of container ships go back that way almost empty, so it might not be outrageously expensive but I'm not sure.

Their dog flew with them, had to have documentation on vaccines & vet checkup. Then pup spent about 2 weeks in quarantine in Frankfurt, then home.

Andrew,

I wrote several articles about my duck hunting in Australia. One for Delta Waterfowl, one for Gray's, and one for the British magazine Shooting Times and Country Magazine. There was also a decoy maker from SC who also wrote articles, but I forget which magazines.
I made trips down almost every year from 2002 until 2013. Had some of the best duck hunting I have ever experienced.
As for the boat, I exported one of my Barnegats down. I had it crated, took it up to Portland, Oregon to be put into a container. From there it went to Melbourne. It actually didn't cost all that much. Can't remember exactly, but around $800. Sorry to say it didn't work well with a motor due to the hull. Was able to get around, but slowly. Totally different from my other Barnegat that with a 15 horse motor was almost dangerous at full speed.
The boat is at my friend's house, John Byers. He doesn't use it. If you want it I will tell John to give it to you.
He lives in Victoria about a four hour drive east of Melbourne. But I need to stress it is very slow with a motor.
Once you are back in the country I hope you have good days with the hardheads. They are by far my favorite duck down there. John makes duck calls and decoys. He has a web site, Poddy Bay Duck Calls. You might want to pull it up. Think there is a photograph of me in the Barnegat on his photo section. Best, Worth Mathewson
