Perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket tomorrow, I seem to be on a roll. There I was this morning, laying in a field watching ducks fly around and I heard what sounded like plywood crunching and then a bit like a tailgate being dropped. I thought, what the...? But went back to the duck watching. Later on I went for a little leg stretch and I noticed the electric fence around some nearby bee hives was down, and the hives were knocked over, and one was destroyed. I was thinking black bear so, after supper I went back to stake out the bees and see who might come back for more.
With about 2 minutes of legal shooting left this guy came strolling down the edge of the field. One shot with a 220 soft point from my 30.06 and that was that. The shot double lunged him and he made it about 6 feet before collapsing.
I have multiple pictures of this guy from causing damage in the area so many people will be relieved he's done. Absolutely gorgeous late season hide on him. We weighed him at 415 lbs. I was trying to hold his head up for the picture but it was too heavy for me.
