The inside word from at least two of my very reliable sources:
Atl/MS flyway season will be 60 days/6 ducks; 3 woodies, 2 pintails, 1 canvasback and 4 scaup.

Better live it up this year, the good old days are now!
If this current drought keeps hold over the winter, we probably will see a drastic drop pond numbers next year.

I agree we are living the Dream Right Now! 90% of the duck hunters I know have never hunted a season that was NOT a Liberal limit.

There was a debate last year about 3 redheads.
My understanding is that a redhead framework was in the works but I have not heard anything lately.

If that's the case, I know the bluebills will take a beating around here. But at least I"ll have 4 birds in the boat everytime I head back to the ramp.

Dont mind seeing the 4 bluebills but I hope they have a 2 hen limit. This drought is bad. I'm young but dont ever remember being this dry, maybe just because of all the heat associated with it. Winter wheat was cut 2 weeks ago in southern wi. They say we got a half inch last Friday but I doubt most parts saw that. No real storm in 6 weeks

Carl, thank you for that information. You just brightened up my day. Last season my area of the world was absolutely infested with blue bills. I'm hoping for a repeat this year. I just bought a scull boat too. Ah yes, I'm day dreaming about the up coming season pretty hard now.

I looked at that article, Brad, and it was amazing how quickly I was brought back to 1956 in western Minnesota. Most of the sloughs were dried up and if some contained water, there was no way you could get close enough to try and shoot some ducks.
Every church in town held prayer vigils in hopes of rain. The local merchants even scraped together enough money to have a pilot seed some clouds in hopes of rain but that failed.
I hope those hunters who have only experienced a liberal limit while duck hunting will persevere when it drops to 4 or lower. With the ever expanding drought area connected with the heavy losses we are experiencing in nesting habitat, it will happen----just a matter of when.
