"The federal stamps have always, as far as I can remember, had 'Void after June 30, xxxx'..."
Heh heh...it just requires a magnifying glass for me to read it anymore.
Our migratory bird license is separate from our general hunting/fishing license so I don't normally carry the waterfowl license until the season opens. Bad idea. Some time between purchasing a stamp and the night before the opener, the unaffixed stamp and license had parted ways. I enjoyed the reality TV experience of visiting two Wal-Marts in two towns between 3:30 and 5 AM en route to my hunting spot. They couldn't find the stamps at the first and the sporting goods counter didn't open until 7:00 at the second. I patiently waited for a small town post office to open 10 miles from my destination. I guess my intention was obvious; the postal clerk pulled out his stack of duck stamps as I walked up to the counter.
Next year my waterfowl license will accompany me when I go to purchase a stamp so I can slap that bugger directly on the license. Sheesh.
