Easy pot buoy decoy

This one was really easy to make, haven't floated it yet, but I am sure with a simple lead strap on the hind end of the keel he will float just fine. Its 1" pine, I am currently relief carving the eye and a little head detail before sealing and painting. I am just going to run a couple dowels through the keel up into the body and epoxy it. Anyone can make this style decoy with a coping saw, some cheap pine or poplar (or similar) and some paint!

You should run a screw or dowel up through the neck. 1x boards tend to break easy along the grain, which will snap the head off.

I always used srcape plywood and painted the edges real good to get paint down in there. I also just ran two 3" deck through top of float into keel. For wieght I would bore out three spots in keel. used spade bit 1" then put misc. wood screw in hole from bit hole then pour lead over to hold. When they would seperate after 3-4 year unscrew foam break out lead and start with fresh wood. Just used as filler dekes anyway.
