Epoxy Question

If I heat up the two parts then mix it. Will it cure faster b/c of the heat?

I have some RAKA and some fast cure hardener that I want to be more thin then it is at room temperature.

Thoughts?

Heat will thin it and cause it to cure faster. Too fast if you mix a big batch and don't move quickly. As an alternative, if possible, heat whatever you are apply it to. Can you put the item in the over on warm? The epoxy will thin but only after leaving the pot and getting on the heated item. You get greater penetration this way too. And who doesn't want that?

Dave,

I have done this with good results. I used epoxy from US Composites. I used an old nesco cooker as a warm water bath to put the jugs in. As mentioned, do not make very big batches as it will cook off in your container once mixed much faster than normal.

good luck,

Do you have a paste epoxy? Something like Marine Tex? Once you mix the 2 parts the chemical reaction between the 2 will generate heat.. Around here all anyone uses is West System. Its fool proof and I've been known to do some very foolish things

I'm filling a void between cork and a bottom board that I didn't clamp very well.

Just smoosh it in with a puddy knife. If the gap is big and you get runout, mix some dust or baking flour in.
