Ever see a butt like this?

Dropped a funny looking mallard this weekend. Had a large round butt and only one tail feather.

Here it is next another from the same flock for comparison:

Didn't notice it flying any differently from the rest, though I can't imagine the lack of tail feathers wouldn't affect its ability to fly somewhat.

Anybody ever see anything like this before? Any idea what causes big, round butts?

How 'bout:

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the spin beneath my wings.

Are you sure the lack of tail feathers isn't from your first two shots? :>) :>)

Dave: I thought you knew me better than that. I never shoot behind a duck. In fact I generally lead them too much. Mallards are such slow swimmers!

I hope you wore protective glasses when you opened that duck! We have yet to see a mallard down here so please send some down here, fat butts and all. :-)

Eddie,

It was full of more than wind. And it sure stank!

Didn't take any photos of the inside.
