Here's a map of my tenative route. Where I'll be and when is entirely up to the birds.

I leave in 2 weeks.

FYI,

A picture from my last trip in 03 before the makeover.

And after the makeover.

The boat is grassed and the sun is turning the fronds to a dead rush color as I write.

I will be posting here during the trip and to the refuge at this link:

I've been looking forward to this for a long time.

Oh great, now we are going to have another invasive grass plugging up the Midwest waterways. Wish you were coming a few hours closer to Mi.

Are you going to be hunting in the Davenport, IA. area? If so give a shout, I might be able to guide you to some ducks. I'm all ways up for a hunt, we've been doing fairly well, by then we should be doing even better, I hope.

Hitch your skippin right over pool 13 of the mississippi! for shame lol

Looks like a fun trip, I hope the water is not to hard in 2 weeks some COLD conditions
are a commin.

The marks on the map don't represent where were gonna hunt, or that we'll even be that far north. If you’re froze up, then we'll head south. Obviously we'll be following the ducks.

I just finished packing your Pintail decoy today (Sat.). Box should be at UPS on Monday. If you're not leaving for two weeks, you can take him along. Get to know each other and all that.....

I'd love to hook up with you for one of your hunts in NW Missouri, birds are starting to filter in but we need a couple good cold fronts for really good numbers.

Maybe buy you a steak and a beer if you stay in the KC area.

I may have to bring along some corn stalks, so that you will properly blend in. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

You planning on making the loop, counterclockwise? Going to be hunting the Iowa side when you hunt the Mississippi? Should be a fun trip.

Hitch,

Pm'd contact info for if you get this far.

Have a good trip.

Even if Al Gore were right, even if you soak them in growth hormone, I don't think you'll have a problem with them invading. If that were the case with Palm Fronds, then MLBbob would be the one to complain to :)

And don't get me started about invasive plants!!!!!

Sweet trip Hitch.
Have a ball. That boat makes my day every time I think about cooking AM eggs on the stove with SOS going for the biscuts in the oven.
Even better if looking out at an official ML Bob Pintail waiting for the first birds to drop in.
My glass blind will be designed with a stove included.

I updated the map.

Everyone that has sent me their cellphone numbers, I'm saving them in my phone for the trip.

Hitch...good luck on the tour. You better get your Can taxidermy fund squared away right quick. Hey, the fronds will blend perfectly with the phrags we have all over the place now. If you can find the right patch you'll be able to drive right into them ala Lake St Clair style. Or, just anchor and make yourself into a mobile phragmites patch!
