Fall fun

Here are a few pics of what has been happening in my are of southern NJ. I hunted a few days of the first splits in both our south zone and coastal zone. It has been pretty warm and not a lot of birds around but we have managed a few ducks and geese so far. I got out once in September for rails in the Nor'easter we had. There were a lot more rails around then I expected. I came home with 6 clappers. It was raining pretty good and blowing up to 50 so no camera that day.

Here are a couple pics of a nice wood duck I got and nice Black my brother got.

Have had some great sunrises.

I have been getting some fishing in along with the hunting. The water is still too warm and the big fish haven't shown up down here in good numbers yet.

Lots of small blues and weakfish.

If this one was a couple inches longer it would have been coming home for dinner.

Came across this loon and what I think are white faced storm petrels a few miles off the beach.

Thanks for looking.

Good morning, Luke~

Wonderful photos! Those big saltmarshes really strike the homesickness chord with me....

BTW: Those birds out in the Atlantic with the Common Loon look to my eye more like Black-legged Kittiwakes. Check out the sizes.

Thanks for posting!

Luke, congratulations on your duck hunt/fishing trip. I, too, loved seeing those pics of the area that you hunted. It sure looks like a perfect spot for ducks. Thanks for the great shots that you posted.

Nice shots Luke, the larger bass should be down your way very soon if not already. Just south of Barnegat inlet has been hot all week with big fish.

Looks like your cup runith over--duck hunting and fishing. Great color on that woodie. Those marshes look fun to hunt. You can see them coming in from all directions and that's my favorite part of huntin. Thanks for sharing.

Winter plummage Bonapartes Gulls, (that many Kittiwakes in Jersey would herald the coming of the next ice age and that many White Faces Storm Petrels Global Warming of Biblical proportions), and a winter plummaged Common Loon.

Neat pictures of some of my favorites , Black Ducks and Stripers and the Jersey salt marsh. All you need was a Brant and a bushel of crabs.
