A couple of members have PM'd asking about my family & plans for the holidays, so I thought I would pass along an update:

We wont be able to see my wife and daughter over the Holidays. They are going from Okinawa up to Osaka to spend the holidays with her family & friends.
News Years is the biggest holiday of the year in Japan, this will be the first time in over 10 years she will be there for it. So she is excited about that.
My daughter is doing great, she is in Japanese public school and is quickly becoming fluent in speaking, reading & writing Japanese. We are very proud of her.

My son & I are travelling to see my siblings and extended family over the holidays, first time all 6 (I have 4 sisters and 1 brother) of us have been together for Christmas in over 25 years.

So we will be apart but with each others families. That and Facetime will make things easier.
My son & I will go to Okinawa this summer for 2 weeks. We are already making plans!

Thanks for your concerns, really shows the class & spirit of the members of this website!

Best of luck to you Carl. I know it is difficult to be away from the wife and kids. At least you and your son have each other to lean on.

Good morning, Carl~

Sounds like the whole family will be enjoying a fine holidays. We are enjoying the company - for almost 3 weeks - of my daughter Emily and her husband Folke - who live in Berlin. I had not seen them in 2 years. Son Ben - who has been all over the globe on some Christmases - is just down in Manhattan - and will be home next weekend.

All the best,

SJS

Keep the cell phones busy. Sounds like all of you have some very exciting times to look forward to. Merry Christmas, Carl.

Glad you will have them home!
We spent The Holidays in Germany 3 years ago, it was amazing!

Well, Carl, I think what you said will be a reality. From the looks of her it will be soon. We have a chocolate female just about 2 weeks behind her. Both are in the office with me as I type this. Busy times.

This is one of Chaco and Habi's pups by the name of Serrano. Bev picked her out of the 4 female pups she had when she was only 15 days old.

Carl, I know how difficult it is to be apart and wish you the best this Christmas. We celebrated ours yesterday with my four kids, three spouses and two grandkids. It was magical after 3 years of missing them during the holidays.

Thanks for sharing the update, I have been watching all of your posts this fall wondering how things were going.

You're welcome Joe!
Other than being apart things are going great here and in Japan. My wife loves her job, daughter is doing amazing in school and they both have made good friends already.
As you have seen, my son and I are hunting and fishing quite a bit. He did great in his freshman year of cross country and is doing darn well in the AP/Honors /Engineering high school program he is in. So I can't complain!
