Fancy Smancy Double Gun Case Question

I recently picked up a pair of super nice cases made by Murray Custom Leather and am unsure about one of the cases. I thought it was a double gun take down case built for two guns but the top slot on one side is stitched halfway (seen in the second picture between the d-rings) dividing it into two compartments. What is the purpose of the divided compartment? Seems like it prevents me from storing two guns in the case.

I emailed Murray Leather but got no response. Best I can figure all the stitching does is prevent you from storing/transporting two guns in a case that clearly has the space for more than one.

So I emailed Murray again and this time got a quick response.

Apparently this was a custom order since we do not offer anything similar in our standard S-10 models. Looks like one of a kind & I do not remember the customer or the purpose of the design.
