FAVOR: Anyone live near Tampa want to babysit my boat?

I'm coming down to Tampa near the end of June for a trade show. I'm staying in downtown Tampa and the parking is just an unfenced public lot. I'm not too keen on leaving my boat unprotected in an open lot. I'm wondering if anyone living around Tampa/St. Pete would take care of my baby for 3 days (Thur-Sun) while we're at the show? After the show we are continuing down to the Florida Keys for a week of boating and snorkeling the reefs.

Terry,

The company I work for has two marinas in Clearwater and one in South Pasadena Florida. Let me know if you run into a problem. I'm sure I can work something out for you if you get in a jamb.

Thanks John! I appreciate the offer! Optimally, I won't have to drive too far out of the way, but then, my life never works out that way. I'll let you know if I have to glom off you. Again, thanks!

Terry,

There is a boat storage facility off the Gandy Blvd bridge on the St. Pete side of Tampa Bay a short drive from downtown Tampa. I kept my boat there and never had a problem. I'm sure you could keep it there for a few days. If you pull up Bing Maps or Google Maps and show the street view you'll see the lot just past a marina on the left. Also there are several members of United Florida Waterfowlers that live in the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete area. A couple of them are members here as well they just don't post much. I could ask around if you don't find someone.

Oh...There is a good picture of it on Google maps street view. The place is called Boat and RV Storage. Phone number 580-5605. I'm pretty sure I remember the area code as 727.

Terry,

There were very accommodating when I was looking for a place for my boat. The owner or another guy is there Monday through Friday and if you want access in the evening or weekends they'll give you a key. If you get out on the bay while you're there they have a wash bay so you don't have to look for a car wash.

A few of our favorite places to check out if you have time.

It's a freaking blast! Think 2 seater sports car! It's not the fastest thing on the water, or the most efficient. I would want it set up a bit different if I was a diehard fisherman, but for the small amount of fishing I do, it works out. It handles and rides like a much larger boat. We had been looking for one for a few years before we found this.

We're in Tampa as a vendor (Branding Irons) for a big wood turning symposium. By the time I spend 10 hours standing on my feet, talking to 500 people (for 3 days!), taking the boat out is the last thing on my mind! LOL We usually have enough energy to crawl back to the room and drop onto the bed. After the show on Sunday, we'll head on down to the Florida Keys for a week to do some boating and snorkeling.

I appreciate the tip, I'll call him tomorrow morning and see if we can work something out.

Best regards,
