This was mostly a bufflehead day, but there were a lot of them.

If I remember correctly we limited out after a few hours.

Of course when the big ducks came in I had a camera in my hand instead of a shotgun.

One of the buffleheads in the first picture has been hit and is coming down, the next picture shows the splash.

Great posts! You layout guys have more guts than I have. You and your partner have to be complaisant. ( okay, I looked the word up):-)

Thanks, had to look that word up just to be sure :)
Although we have hosted a lot of hunters here (a few from the this website), there is really nothing altruistic about it.

I just love being out on the water during the migration. Duck season is just an excuse. I love boat handling and messing with the equipment. The 15 minutes before sunrise is a magic time for me.

I can sit in the tender and watch the birds work, or not work, all day.

Besides I shot more than my share of divers when I was in my 20's.

Boz... the only real scary part is the transfer from tender to layout and back. well... you might not believe that you are safe in the layout... but after you learn that you are... it is terribly fun!
