Fiberglass Larson duck boat????

Has anyone ever heard of Larson making a fiberglass duck boat? The reason I ask is because I may have found one. The story I am told is Larson laid up 8 or 9 of these boats at their factory some time in the 50's. I can find no hard evidence of these being made on line. Any information would help a ton. I will get some pictures within the next week and post them here.

You could make an inquiry to the Minnesota Maritime Museum in Alexandria.

They just wrapped up a duckboat exhibit (unless they extended it, I haven't heard) so the topic is pretty fresh.

Nick, Didn't you have a boat there? Did they decide to keep it or are you just taking advantage of some really nice storage? :-))

Please do put up the Pics. You're right Larson did make some, but I'm not sure how many.

I saw one posted on Craigslist a few years back in St. Cloud, or Sartell, Clearwater I don't recall exactly. I spoke to the Guy, and He boasted about how he had redone the Boat. I didn't like what He had done, or what He had used. I would have rather gotten the Boat from Him in lousy shape, and restored it myself. He wanted way too much money considering what had been done, and in my opinion would have needed to be totally redone again properly.

The one I am thinking back on I remember to be a square stern 10-12' Boat with a pointed bow, decked over with a good size cockpit opening. I know of another one in the Brainerd area, but I've not seen that one. Just spoke to the Man who owns it.

I can tell ya one thing for sure 50 year old fiberglass Boats usually need some serious repairs. There's a lot of patches, and interesting repairs to find on close inspection. I'm always skeptical of those things, and what guys tell ya they already fixed themselves.

Good luck, just don't pay a lot unless the thing is in immaculate shape.

my .02 cents.

If that's the one Craigslist I'd like to see a few more pictures. I tried contacting the guy a couple of months back for some more pictures but never got a response so I figured it was sold and just not taken down. Looked a lot like a Herters to me. As a matter of fact I just looked again and now the ad has expired.

Call Larson direct in Little Falls. Someone there will know the answer or can point you to someone who knows.

Tom -
I do have a boat at the museum... at least, I hope it's still there!

The plan was to pick it up last fall on one of my many trips back home, but unfortunately, I didn't make many trips back home.
