Hello All,
I'm consisdering buying the filson waterfowl sweater and I just wanted to get some feed back from the guys/gals that have used this sweater in the field. Likes/dislikes? Thanks for the input.
2 of the boys I hunt with have them and absolutely love them, they brag about them all the time, actually drives me crazy how much they rave about them but I will say they don't complain about being cold and often wear that in the goose blind with not much else over it.
The only complaint I'd have is the cost.... and also that for me at least it's too hot for early/mid season. I usually only break mine out when it's below 25.
I have one. Normally I'm a thrifty guy, but this sweater just "called" to me. I believe it is the best sweater I have ever owned. It kept me warm through the goose season laying out in the fields. I consider it a good buy even though the price gave me a heart attack!
I love mine. I don't remember how long ago I got it. I wear it all the time when hunting below about 40 degrees. With some Merino wool long underwear you won't get cold. Sure it was expensive but considering how it's wearing, someone will be fighting over it when I go belly up.
I never had the experience of it shrinking - then again maybe I haven't washed it
Well Hitch, I 'probably' have washed it but at the moment I don't remember. It's merino wool so it never smells bad anyway no matter how much I've worn it. Best thing to do with a merino wool sweater is hang it outside for a day or so.
Lookin good Pete u even have the old style camo filson hat, both items are discontinued from filson. I looked on line and it seems the current waterfowl sweater is imported and not US made. I don't think that makes a difference, same filson quality I hope.. They only offer camel/brown no green. Now I just have to get past the fact that it cost $220.00. Thanks again guys.
Hey guys - I have one and it's great if your moving but if your sitting in your boat and it's really cold I'd still take my down coat over it. When I'm fishing and always moving it's my best choice. If I happen to get a little wet - it keeps me warm no matter. Filson is a great company. I'm liking this heavy polar fleese now coming out.
Filson makes a great sweater but you can spend half the money on the LL Bean Waterfowl sweater. I love mine!!! I'm never cold when I wear it, ever!!! Even when the winds are blowing and the temps are in the teens.
No problem Greg. I also own a LL Bean field coat with the liner for cold weather but have not worn it since I've gotten the sweater. I'm sure you will be happy with either purchase.....................Good luck, Kevin
I have not washed mine yet after two seasons. However, I have a front loader and could wash it in cold water on delicate. Then air dry it. You can also wash it in the sink with a very little bit of detergent...................Kevin
