Final ALS Auction...

The last decoy up for auction is a very special one. This decoy is one of the best decoys that I've made in 0ver 30 years of carving. It is a hollow carved northern shoveler. This is a special decoy to me. I love how it turned out and, have an affinity toward spoonies as we get lots of them at our club.

I also like the classic Illinois River Sleeper pose I put this bird in. My great grandpa also carved sleeper decoys. This bird is branded, keeled and has remarks to Jim Schmiedlin on the bottom of the decoy. The body is made from northern white cedar and head from northern white pine. A stand is included for display...

I am also including with this decoy a special picture mounted on foamboard for display with the decoy. This picture was taken at the Henry Decoy Show several years back and includes a multitude of Illinois River Decoy Tradition. Included in the picture is myself (holding this shoveler decoy), Katy Perdew Siebert, Gary Lane Meister and, Mike Lashbrook. We are each family to the famed Illinois River Carvers respectively, George "Homerun" Barto, Charles Perdew, Stephen Lane and Virgil Lashbrook. A ton of decoy history in this picture. The picture is signed by each of the legacy decoy carvers.
