Finish pics of the blind

Looks great Ben! What manufacturer is your boat. There was an old boy in Arkansas when I lived there that had a boat of similar design. Skeeter, I believe. We had it rigged with stick steering in the bow w/ a 20hp. The bow camo flipped upout of the way so he had clear vision when running. I always thought that was a slick looking boat.

Good eye Ed. It's a Skeeter by Ranger. This boat had a 70 hp which would make it run like a scaled cat. The plan is to tame it down and use 9.9 this season. b

Hey Ed,

The guy that runs that website - Jim Porter is one of my dad's buddies. They were just up on the Tennesee river floating it in the skeeter for Smallmouth. We've been known to duck hunt in the stick marsh too. Use to be one of the best Largemouth holes in the south as well. It's about 20 minutes from the house.

Hitch,

That's cool. Nice to know they still have that old boat and use it. From reading the article they went though a lot of work to get her fixed up.

Thanks Ed for the follow up history on the boat. This one belongs to a buddy and the history was the trailer and boat were given to him by a neighbor. He liked the trailer but the boat almost went to "boat heaven" as he thought it was of no use until we hunted together in layouts and it dawned on him he had a layout jewel. Granted it's a little large and deep sided for some folks marsh boat tastes but the buddy is 6'6" and weighs over 300 lbs so the “big man” size fits. He cut out the seats and false floor and we made a medal structure to support and connect the gunnels to the floor. He scrounged a chunk of wrestling mat to use with a layout board. It’s a cool boat that should be a natural in the marsh.

Hi. The gates are flip up. On page two under "new boat almost finished" there are pics of the gates and mounting brackets. On the skeeter boat the brackets used 3/8 cold roll welded to the bottom of the block sandwich. To attach the bracket to the boat we welded 1/2 inch pipe to angle iron and bolted the angle iron to the gunnels. On the jon boat in the "almost finished" I used smaller sq tubing on the hinge side and larger sq tubing on the bracket side. Regardless the gates flip up and down and are easy to remove. Let me know if you have other questions. What brand model of lay out do you have? ben
