Fiocchi Steel Review

Throw in there that Academy is now selling their "Monarch" brand, ammo manager at on here in Mobile said they will have steel loads next year. Its made by Rio.

Carl, it's interesting you brought up Rio. I just bought three boxes at Dick's for about $11.00 each. Three inch BB. They shot well for decoying geese. Stone dead at 20 yards, but they seemed to shoot dirty. Anyone have experience with Rio Royal Bluesteel?

Back in December 2005 or 2006, Able Ammo had Rio Blue Steel 3", 1 1/4oz on sale for $79/case delivered.
I got a case of #3s. I loved them, I shoulda bought more. By time I decided to they were sold out.

Seems to me we are in a good time for steel shot, a lot more brands to choose from, prices are staying reasonable for good loads and the quality is better than it was back when I first started duck hunting in 1995.
Depending on what's on sale in 3", 1 1/4oz #3s, I would not hesitate to shoot Estate, Federal, Rio or Fiocchi. All do well in my gun.

just opened a case of Rio 3" bb's, they go bang, geese drop, not that dirty. Got them at Cabelas last time I went to the sportsman show in PA. they were 80 bucks if I remember right.
what's not to like? lol

This doesn't really apply to many of you but I think it is an interesting item. When I got my 28 and the Mec Sizemaster to match I thought a "lite 28" might be fun. So I purchased some primed 2 1/2" 28 ga. hulls from Ballistic Products. Loaded up a box and headed out to the gun club. Aprox. 2/3 of the box would not extract. My 28 is a Rem. 870 and the extractor was tearing through the rims of the Fioccchi hulls. Remington sent me a new extractor but that didn't solve the problem. The "brass" heads of those hulls is just too soft to stand up to the hard sharp extractor of the 870. I returned the unopened hulls and gave the rest to a friend with an OU who could use them. A bit off thread but a chance to tell a story, thanks for listening

I have no problem with fiocchi shells
When I bought the shells they were much cheaper that other(on sale). I bought 10 cases.
sad thing they became property of huricane sandy
