First Build-BBIII with Phil (Updated first hunt pics)

Looks like a comfy hide. Evidently you don,t hunt with a dog from your choice of shooting over the bow. With that longtail hanging off there had you considered shooting over the stern , running the bow up into vegetation or next to bank. Found out with my blackjack that was the easiest way to set up, but I shoot with dog located behind me. Just a thought you might consider.

Cody-With the way I did the rear combing the motor cannot sit all the way down in the cockpit. So for starters I just have a 2x4" holding the motor up and secured with a ratchet strap via 2 eyes that a screwed into the combing. I have the cover on so this is the best pic I can get right now. The skeg of the motor sits down in between the doors, I left about a small gap between the doors to allow for this.
I did think about cutting a gap down the combing and a tad into the splash well to allow the motor to sit all the way down in the boat but I am going to try this for now and see how I like it.

Roy-I do hunt with a dog. There is enough room for the dog to sit next to me in the gap of the frame if I want but my previous dog always layed down with me when layout hunting in other boats. I did not feel comfortable shooting over the motor with the height of the mud motor so that is the reason I am shooting forward. I will have pole in backward which shouldn't be to bad.

Looks good Andrew, seems like it works! When you ran your fuel tank up front, did you just run an extended fuel line to your motor? I'm thinking about doing a front mounted tank install and I'm not 100% clear on how the plumbing works.

Your setup looks awesome Andrew.

Cody I might beable to give some advice on running a fuel tank from the front. What I have always done is run a length of fuel line from the tank to a water separator next to where i sit and drive and then from there a peice of fuel line to the motor, always put your inline pump bulb on the section between the fuel/water separator and the engine fuel line connection Hope this helps.

Nice looking boat.

If I could make a couple of suggestions. You were looking to damp the noise of the blind frame hitting the boat. I have pretty much the same type of door system for my Hoefgen. I just used some of the neoprene pipe insulation tubes and adhered them to the combing. It makes the noise non existent. And then for when you hunt two and keep the doors open, rather than using grass mats to hide the front and back, I would suggest taking some bungee and zip tying raffia to it. Then just stretch the bungee and let the raffia grass just hang don. Advantage of this method is the raffia will match your current blind material, it is light weight, it takes up zero room when removed and it can be used almost anywhere else you may want to add additional concealment.

For what it is worth.

Thanks Clinton, sounds lika a good setup.

No problem glad I could help.

Don't know what engine your motor use's but you might also want to upgrade the fuel pump on the engine.

Copperhead upgrades the fuel pump so it works better from a fuel tank set at the front of the boat, and they use vanguard engine's, mine has the 23 vanguard, and without a stronger pump upgrade or a electric pump installed in the fuel line it wouldn't give enough vacum to pull fuel from the tank at the front.

Just a lil food for thought is all.

Andrew again boat looks awesome love the blind setup gave me some good idea's.

Cody

I ran 3/4" conduit from the back of the boat through the foam compartment and through the bulkheads/knees before pouring foam and before putting the top deck on and the fuel line feeds through that.

The fuel line comes up through the splash well and has a rubber boot around the opening.

Thanks for the input. Do you remember what you used to adhere the pipe insulation?

Good idea on the rafia I think I should have enough left to be able to cover the openings when hunting with 2 people.

The boat has gotten wet just 3 times so far but is performing great!
I put it through some good shallow weedy water where I hunt and had no issues getting through even with 2 people in the boat. I have since moved up the LED bow light as far as I can. Some finessing left to do with the blind grass and we should be ready to rock for early teal season. I see that Photobucket has changed its rules on 3rd party sharing so I will try to go back and update the build photos.

With the design of the Hoefgen, I didn't need an adhesive of any type as the insulation fit on the combing and kind of secured itself.

If I had to adhere it, I'd use a double sided tape over a liquid adhesive. Easier to remove as this pipe insulation is not the most durable product outdoor in hunting environment.
