Flood tide redfishing

Dani,
Great shots and story as usual. I did have some explaining to do when my wife saw the cowboy hat shot and asked "What kind of site are you looking at?" ;)
Have the turtles hatched yet?

Dani.... pick up a flyrod next time. The advantage is you can throw flies simulating crabs, shrimp, etc which weight next to nothing and they wont spook the fish as much as a big "plop" when you drop a lure cast by a spinning rod.

If you think chasing those fish with a spin rod is fun, wait until you learn to tie flies (make your own), then cast them to a fish and land one. Now that's exciting and satisfying as well!

I have heard that a good deal....but right now i"m just trying to figure out casting with a spinning rod (where I want it to go). Steve got a great laugh though out of imagining me trying to fly fish...takes a lot more coordination than I seem to have apparently. hahahahahha that's ok....perhaps someday I will give it a try.....

I'll be happy to pass along your greetings Fred.

Tim- Steve's FIL passed away so he and Debby have become the new owners of The River House. He's spending what time he isn't fishing, working on the house since it's in need of work. He'll go back to WA in september sometime, just in time for bird season there to start....how nice is that? Fish all summer and then go home just in time to bird hunt....and I look forward to seeing what kind of fly you tie with those feathers...I hope that there are enough to send me two flies?

Kris- His boat is a Hewes Redfisher....great boat....love it.....

Ed....you're missing some great fishing down here....if you get down here again do give me a shout...hope that you get out soon and catch some more fish. Your boat sounds like it's coming along though.

Ron- hahahahahah and that wasn't even the best cowboy hat picture. Steve got to go see some Leatherback babies released at Patrick AFB beaches, but I haven't heard of any babies being released up here recently. We have a bunch of loggerheads up here so it'll be later in the summer before they hatch. I hope to make it back down to Juno to go see if perhaps I can find some baby turtles erupting out of the sand. We shall see.

Thanks again y'all. I look forward to more flood tide fishing......

we caught one redfish this weekend as well. highlight of weekend was when we were headed back over the bridge to home in my buddy's truck. Still had rods in the car. Spotted some mass destruction happening to a school of mullet on a bar 100 yds from the beach. Whipped the truck into a friends driveway in one of the prime beach houses, and left it running. Grabbed two rods that still had topwaters on them and made a quick run to the beach. Ended up being a large school of 15 lb jack crevalle. We had fun watching them eat topwaters. Friend called cops on us for "trespassing" because he doesn't know the truck we were in. Got it sorted out and had a little laugh.

Kris-

Nice lookin boat. How's she run?

Sounds like a great day fishing. We were out in the river looking for the big bull reds (ours come up into the river so I don't have to brave the sea sickness and go to the jetties or offshore) but they either haven't made it all the way in yet or they just weren't hungry. But we did see birds and fish busting bait so we picked up the anchor and headed over and had a blast catching jacks for a little bit. Not big ones, but certainly fun to fish.

We also caught some slot reds but we stuck a tag in them and let them go....sooooooo who knows.....perhaps I'll see them again in the future.
