FoamBoats

if I figured it right that would be 11.6 cubic ft. Each cubic ft. floats 62LBS minus the weight of the foam. That is based on two LB density. Not sure how dense the pink and blue are.

Phil,
I suddenly have this image of a CBR with chunks of foam strapped to his sides, chest and back sort of like the Michelin Man :)

I presume epoxy resin does not react poorly with the blue or pink foam. Could someone confirm or deny this for me?

Thanks

Phil,
When I built my Kara sneak boat, I used the pink foam and did not see any issues with the epoxy and foam. I don't have any insight on the blue. Hope this helps.

Are you talking about a solid foam boat or a sandwich foam constructed boat. Two thin layers of fiberglass between a foam inner core is a super strong, super light type of construction. You might want to try googling " blue foam dinghy"
By the way, what is CBR ?

I'm pretty sure Coot has claimed my new pumpkin seed. These two will have to sort it out :)

Another CBR (Chesapeake Bay Retriever) in a layout. I like where you are going with this idea Phil!

PS: I've been absent for quite a while. Yes, the boy in my avatar is the same as the one in the layout pic! Luke has gotten big...

I am going ot make a dog layout... glueing 3-4 sheets of 2" pink insulation on a 3/8" sheet of plywood. I will be glassing the entire thing at that point.

A CBR is a the best dog in the world!!! "Chesapeake Bay Retriever" :)

I am basically going to shape it like a layout boat. I am thinking 4'x5' oval. the cockpit will be hollowed out to the plywood floor. I am thining 20-24" square.(rounded corners of course)

Bob, if you missed my previous posts about kicking around layout hunting with a dog... There are lots of spots in my area that are 3' or less. I can wade to the layout, and I do not a tender. I also rather like hunting with my Chessie. This is NOT for deep water layout hunting.

NICE Gene! What type layout is that?

I picked this layout up a couple weeks ago... thanks to several members on here. The initial plan was to use this as Kodi's layout... now it may just be used by a second hunter (I have a MLB Classic). Kodi is NOT sure about being in it... :)

Phil,

It's a Bankes pumpkin seed. Coot liked playing in it on the ground but he's not a fan of working from any boat, tender included. I'm working on getting him used to going in and out of the tender from the splash well. He was trained to work from the sedge banks we hunt close to so that's what he prefers. He's almost a year old so still a lot of learning to do. The little bit of retrieving work he did this year I handled him from the bank and left the birds drift clear of the long lines before sending him. There is just something special about a CBR. "Special" covers a lot of things!

I thought it looked like a Banks...but I also thought it looked narrow.

Heck... at 1 year old... no worries. introducing somerthing VERY new to a 9 year old... maybe a challenge!
