I was looking for a newer yamaha 15 2 stroke for my estuary. Found a 2010 with only a couple hours on it. Its in Holbrook NY on Long Island. I am heading up next week to pick it up. Any suggestions On the best way to get there from Pa.

Mike, if is is a 2 stroke, it is a 2009. Maybe purchased in 2010.... I have a new motor purchased in 2011, but it was built in 2009. That was the last year of manufacture for the 2 stroke Yamaha. Just FYI, still a great motor, love mine!

Thanks for the info. I have been doing some looking around and it looks like yamaha still makes the 2 stroke but they can't be imported anymore.

2009 was the last year Yamaha made the 2 stroke engines for sale in the US. A couple local dealers still have a few, they order a bunch in 2009. I know one dealer was even contacted by Yamaha because they have other dealer in the country looking for motors.

Mike -
Congrats on the find.
This is classic armchair quarterbacking, since I am up here in Toronto, but maybe this isn't the weekend to be driving to Long Island??

All the best to you.
And I will be touching wood for all you guys on the east coast...

I will be headed up next week after the storm moves through. I have to work this weakend but thanks for the heads up.

Just a heads up from someone who has gone through a few Hurricanes on Long Island... If the storm is as bad as they say its going to be, it may take a week before things get back to normal. Trees will be down, making roads impassible. Telephone and electrical lines will be down making it hard for businesses to open. You might want to think about getting in touch with whoever you are purchasing the motor from now, get some alternate phone numbers, an email address. etc. Don't be surprised if you cant reach him for a week after the storm....

I went and picked up my new left over 2 stroke Yamaha at Spring Garden Marina in Millville NJ today. Special thanks to Kevin Stupp for the lead on the motor It was there last 15 2 stroke they had. The guys at Spring Garden were great and would recommend them to anyone.
