If anyone is interested - here's a story about a guy who ROWS a 12' BBSB from Pitsburg - 2600 miles to the gulf via the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.

He did this around 1870 after having the boat built in NJ for 25.00 and shipped to Pitsburg. He leaves in December, sleeps in the boat most nights.

Kind of puts all the stuff we worry about - trailers, motors, et al in perspective !

Dick.I think he paied $75, and the book was published 1874, he all wrote about a trip along the eastern sea board to florida in a paper canoe.

John - Not sure why it won't open for you but just google it and you will see the same site and maybe that will work.

In New Bern NC they have a paper (cardboard) boat race every year. I've heard it is a major hoot and that some of the boats actually make it to the finish line.
