Picked up one of these last weekend at the big gun show in Tulsa. Nice little gun! I'm guess 1960's vintage with 26 inch vented rib barrel, extractors, double triggers. Anybody know what chokes this gun has and if they are open enough would steel shoot through it ok?.....Thanks.

What would you think about using steel shot in this gun once in awhile? Seems to be stoutly built. I know this questions always brings out mixed reviews. I've got a 1960's era Wingmaster 20ga with IC choke and I've used steel shot in it occasionally with no effects.

Tom,

My dad has 3 of them (20, 16, and 12). They were originally all mod/full, and we shoot steel out of them all the time. (But we did put screw-ins in the 12-gauge). I shot that 12-gauge version with steel for 10 years before we did the work on it though. (When I had sufficiently abused it, i stripped it down, redid the stock, had the barrels blued, and reamed it out for screw-in chokes--there has to be enough wall thickness to do that though. Made for a beautiful gun.)

Would you consider opening up the choke a bit or putting in screw-ins?

Frank....Thanks for the response......I saw some old adds and sales booklets on Model B's and they show the 26inch barreled 16's with IC/M chokes. So I shouldn't have to open them. But if they prove to be tighter, I have no problem having them opened. The stock on mine was kinda rough, so I'm in the process of refinishing it. Bluing and case coloring is still in pretty good shape. Some minor pitting near the muzzle but other than that it cleans up real nice. I would love to find one of these in a 12ga, 28 or 30 inch vented barrel with a 3 inch chamber. I would really love to have a set of 12-16-20-410!
