Gene R's broadbill rebuild

Yep I was going to rip on tablesaw 2" by what ever lenghts to get it to curve of inside of hull and epoxy. If need be I'll score the back to get curve tight and flush without distorting hull/gunnel shape. Hoping the new brass drain plug housing , plastic drain for splash well and choks gets here today from Hamilton Marine.

Oh, and remember to set correct date in camera!duh.
Anyway here's our (Rory youngest son and I) progress today.

Cutting grass rails

dekesandBB009.jpg

Front rails attached I used 1"s.s. screws from bottom, pre drilled so trex won't split.

Here's the wood on inside of hull glued. I believe someone reffered to it as a shear clamp?

Back of rails attached. I decided to use rails for instead of decoy racks for a couple reasons. One My chessie always seems to slip off side,
Dog will have something for leverage with hand behind head, handles for me to side boat on tumps and zip tie grass onto

Hull and deck getting fitted for final assembly. Then paint boat, motor and new dodger. All by next Saturday for N.W.PA sneakboat get together.

You didn't mention you were putting rails on your boat...Looks good man! I'm still waiting on my stuff to arrive to get working on my own boat. I hope I can get it done by next weekend. You retired people kill me!!

Steve

Looks great. I now see that your deck is different from how I interpreted your earlier post. Looks like you've got it solved.

Thanks Guys, Just got done at decoy barn for tonight and it's offically back together and it all fit and lined up. The s.s. screws pulled the hull right out to lip as planned. I siliconed the inside of lip of deck and sealed up good squeezing it out when tightend. My compressor pooped the bed on me. So i might have to run out and get a new one tomorrow if it's not the reset button/ over heated motor. Never did like the stupid thing, wouldn't hurt my feelings if it fell in my pond! Drain plug and splash well plug tomorrow forsure maybe paint.

Mark, Composite deck board. Seems to hold up good and is firm yet easy to curve to shape to boat. Makes a mess sawdust & chips flying. w/router cuts like butter. I bought buggered up piece on edges @ home depot 10% discount. I round edge anyway with router.

Gene

Gene,
I wish I knew how to use a router. John Kuhn is making me an aluminum sneak. I would put them on. Although I'd have to figure out a way to drill from underneath and attach them

Mark

Well guys, I put the paint on today. I think it'll pass for hunting and grassed up. Wouldn't say the same if it was on a vette. My shoulders killing me from sanding and paint gun. I'll get some photos posted up tomorrow once back on trailer and out in sunshine.

Gene

Well here's the almost finished boat. I left the boat bake in sun yesterday to harden paint and my shoulder recover. I secured wiring, hung/bolted motor, mounted bilge, lights, gas line/tank mounted. I just need to get dodger done then I can mount front/side cleats. Need to order a sm. boot for fuel line. Motor willl get painted tomorrow. But she's ready to float for Saturday run.
