Glad I didn't go out Wednesday

That is pretty impressive indeed. Makes me think about my family and really how little it would take or would have taken to lose them. My dad was S&R for the Navy.....so he was the dude hanging on the cable helping people. My brother is currently a chinook pilot in the army who helps deliver people and goods, or retrieve people and goods, from war torn areas. Wouldn't really take much for either of them to have been lost.

My dad doesn't talk a great deal about some stuff and neither does my brother.

How or why did the car end up in the river? Do you know?

The report is she drove the car in the river.
The car is still in the river, but it has moved closer to the edge of Niagara Falls.
They brought in the coast guard from Detroit, only personnel close enough and qualified for that kind of mission.
Report said the piloting was all manual no computer assistance. Very impressive as what these people can do.
 
That pilot had his hand full for sure, the whole crew deserves recognition for that mission.

Thanks for the reminder of the risks our Coast Guard takes in protecting our safety! Some pretty unbelievable footage!
I am 30 miles from CG Air Station Traverse City and witness a LOT of training fly byes on my Leelanau county shoreline. I witness search and rescue and unfortunately recovery efforts in this popular tourist and boating area and hear of more rescues in the 9 upper great lake states they cover.

The least I can do is go out on my deck salute them as they fly by and proudly wave my US flag.

Sad but what an incredible job!

The rescue videos I've seen after hurricanes and during Gulf storms are remarkable.

How did he get the car door open and to stay open? Looked like the current was ripping.
