Went out this morning with my girlfriend on hopes of getting her first wood duck and the plan worked perfect. Had three come in just after shooting time she took the first shot and two of the three dropped. The dog made a great retrieve on one that was crippled. Then we had another pair come in and I dropped another drake woodie. We missed a few more and didnt take some shots that we should of. In all it was a successful morning!

You found a girl that will get up at o dark thirty,sit in the mud in freezing temps and kills 2 birds with one shot......you better marry her!!Congrats on a great hunt.
 
That is wonderful. Sounds to me like you are doing the right thing! Great to hear that she knows how to shoot. I'll bet in no time she will be a dead eye.

Thanks guys! Last year she got mad at me because i didnt take her hunting enough.. so this year she is ready to go all the time! and i think she could out shoot me cause she takes her time when I get all excited seeing the birds come in!
 
Congratulations on having a cute girlfriend who saves ammunition on top of that! Two for one! When I was in my twenties it took my new wife a few tries (and some coots) before she nailed a big canvasback for her first "official" duck. Not to sound like the old fogie that I am, but I hope you hang onto this one--she seems like a keeper!
 
I'm doing my best to keep her! She loves the outdoors and it makes it even better that she really enjoys learning about hunting ducks. (She even helps carry and pick up the decoys)
 
Way to go Wes, That's a great pic. Nice way to spend the day.

I got out for my first hunt today, not many teal around, (did see a nice flock of Blue wings that didn't want to play) but did very well on the big ducks.
 
Sounds like a great hunt Wes. The problem with having a "significant other" who hunts with you is the fact that you have to buy two of everything. Beautiful girl and handsome lab you have.
