Goose choke?

Vince~

I really appreciate your thoughts:

"Tain't about numbers now of decoys, or dead birds. Just wait for the shot, goose falls or does not fall and it's all on me, not who shot what after the barrage."

We each shoot our own birds - mostly by calling the shots - and back each other up only when the first shooter is empty. For my kindred spirits and I, it really is all about the shot. And a nice tall passing shot on a Canada is very, very satisfying.

All the best,

For what it's worth I've never seen a reason to switch from my factory Remington Mod choke for waterfowl. I'm with the guys that prefer a tighter pattern, usually you get either a dead bird or a complete miss.

Best goose load I ever shot was 3" #2 Hevishot, I once had to take a 60 yard straight-up Hail Mary at a wounded Canada, and at 60 vertical yards I had 3 pellets go clean through the breast and exit out the bird's back. Nowadays since you have to take out another mortgage to shoot Hevishot I find that 3" steel BB's work great also, and I've even had good luck with steel #2's on decoying canadas.
