Gordon MacQuarrie Old Duck Hunter book

Those of you who have read the Old Duck Hunters Association books should know that there is a new compilation of MacQuarrie magazine stories just out. It's called Found Stories of the Old Duck Hunters, and that's a good description. It includes six Old Duck Hunters stories that Zack Taylor apparently didn't find, going back to 1931, and another 20 MacQuarrie adventures. It's available from bahamuseum.org $32 for hardcover, $26 for paperback, postage and shipping included. Baha Museum stands for Barnes Area Historical Association, located in northern Wisconsin where MacQuarrie had his famous cabin. The museum has quite a few MacQuarrie items, duck boat, decoys, typewriter and other things.

Yes, I'm sure there are MacQuarrie ODHA readers and fans who are not aware of efforts going on in Northern Wisconsin to find his writings, probably some on this page. Thanks.

Yes, Found Stories of The Old Duck Hunters can be purchased through Amazon, and if you have free shipping you'll save the $3.00 Barnes Area Historical Association needs to charge for shipping. It's better for the BAHA museum if you order directly through the website- We get a better return than the royalties Amazon pays, and you get to learn more about our little museum up in northern Wisconsin. Either way, buy the book! Thanks!

Barnes, Wisconsin, north of Hayward. MacQuarrie's cabin was on Middle Eau Claire Lake. The museum is about 3 miles east of Mac's cabin. bahamuseum.org will give you better directions. Come on up sometime. Limited hours in the winter, but president Steve Lynch is always willing to open up for a duck hunter!

Dave~

Just ordered my hardcover copy. By coincidence, a new friend just asked me to recommend some "classic" titles and authors. I have not yet replied to him - but McQuarrie was always going to be on my List.

Thanks again!

It seems to me a few years ago on this page was a "What's on your bookshelf" thread. MacQuarrie showed up on a lot of replies. Readers here who do not know MacQuarrie should not begin with this book- go back and read any of the Old Duck Hunters trilogy, or MacQuarrie Treasury, and then read Keith Crowley's "Story of An Old Duck Hunter" biography and then move on to the recent books that bahamuseum.com put out. If you aren't hooked by the ODHA Trilogy you won't need to spend any money on these books. And for saving money, see if you can check them out at the library. Here in Wisconsin you can, maybe not elsewhere.

Thanks. Just ordered it. Can't believe there is actually another book by the redhead whom we love. What a gift he was and still is to the outdoor community.
