That is real nice work Dave. I never hunted with my Dad but I am trying to fill that void with my son obviously. I know that you guys hunt together a lot and you have an awesome boat to do it with. Good luck this season. How is your back doing?

Thanks guys for the positive comments.
Thanks Mike, its all payback now for him taking me as a kid. Plus my 9 year old son will be along for some hunts again this year as an observer, so he will get to spend time in the boat with his grandfather something I never got to do. The back is ok. I got an epidural five weeks ago and it took away probably 50 % of the pain..so I am going to push it through the season and hunt...I will probably have surgery at the end of January. I just have to decide if I am going to have the fusion or fight the doctor and ask for the laminectomy. But with the broadbill populations up I cant risk missing that...lol..Dave

PS John Barton from Somerdale, NJ, did the taxidermy, he is very good with waterfowl.

Very nice work.....love those sprigs.
Good luck with your back Dave....back problems suck !

Very nice mount, I have one at the taxi now and cant wait to get it back.

And btw, if your Dad isnt the spitting image of the "Duke boys" father, Jesse...I dont know who is!!!!!!

I've heard good and bad with everyone in terms of back surgery everyday in practice. Just keep asking questions. "why should i do this surgery and not this one" "how will this affect me in 5-10-15-20 years"

IMHO I would avoid the fusion if possible. When you fuse a joint, the joint above and below must compensate and that usually leads to premature wearing and stress on those joints as well. I have several patients that had back surgery 20+ years ago that now may have to consider additional surgery on the pairing joints above and below. Too bad that you are not closer. I've been doing Decompression Therapy for over 8 years with very good success. I've only had 2 patients over that time that I insisted on the surgery because I felt that it was the best thing for them.
