Got them mid season split blues...

Sitting here, listening to the wind howl, and the cloudy night and wishing that the season was in!

I have 12 handmade divers, a new boat, blind and motor and a puppy in her first full season all waiting to make their debut, and the season is closed.

What is a guy to do? I hate to resort to bow hunting to fill my time....and deer gun season messes up the beginning of the second split for me.

If I am not carefully, it is all going to pass me by....

I don't know, a quite day in the woods with the bow is better than any day at the office!

Kevin, you really jogged my memory when I lived in Alaska starting back in 1966. After waiting that first year so that I could become a resident, I would look at July 1st to August 9th that way. Black bear season closed on June 30th and sheep /goat and black bear season opened on August 10th. That was a tough 40 day wait. However salmon season never disappointed me.

It was living the dream! I hope the time flies for you.

Al, I made the best of it yesterday.

Took Lucy for a run and she found a pheasant for me, her first sort of fair chase pheasant (it had been stocked by the state). She tumbled on it perfectly, tracked it masterfully and brought it to hand after what I must brag to say was a beautiful shot through a sapling grove on my part.

Then in the evening I went for a tree sit as my dad wanted to go out but won't go by himself anymore. I harvested one of the biggest does I have ever taken after an hour of tranquility.

It was a good day.

Good for you, Kevin. You made it happen. Congratulations on a day that you, your dad and for sure your pup, Lucy, won't forget.
