Being a Connecticut Yankee born and bred I guess you hit the nail on the head, or the brush to the fence shall we say.
Dave if they made us fill out term papers and get physicals I would still go clamming. Nothing beats a 1/2 peck limit of your own diggin work going into the hot oil, or however you like um.
Tod, pie sounds very good. I will try it out. As for chowder I am smack in the middle of Clear Chowder country. Between my two friends, Paul Barber, (retired owner of "The Cove Fish Market"), and Jeff Polard, (retired head chef of the "Sea Horse Restaurant") I bet the two of them have made a few thousand gallons of the stuff. I have done my best to eat at least a hundred. Still love my wifes grandmothers original Nantucket recipe for a creamy one too, but don't tell either one of those guys. They might not let me have any more.
Neat aside. Paul tells stories of hunting out of the old cedar blind and not being ready for the broad bill landing cause he was putting the the finishing touches on the chowder cooking on the fire behind the blind, when Lou Bear yelled, "take um!"
Planning on going out for Sundays tide. Will take some pictures and post.
