grassed jersey marsh grass finished new pics

My opinion: I like the grass over the dodger where it hangs down on an angle to conceal you when you are laying in it. But, the other grass standing straight up is no good, why make the boat look bigger than it is? Cover the deck with salt hay and it will look like a piece of the sedge instead of a sneakbox with spartina grass on it. Then when trailering put the dodger down, and not much to blow in the wind.

The dodger looks great and will wilt down as the season goes, I would just leave it. Heres a shot of my old sammy hunt bbsb late in the season so the grass is kinda shitty and wilted. Whens your season start? Damn I miss my old boat........

where is the water line on the boat.My understanding is that the grass should come down to meet the water.otherwise it looks like the grass is growing out of thin air and the boat is showing

Here is where the water line is with an empty boat so it sits lower with my fat ass in it and gear and stuff. But I do see what you are saying. This is my 1st year with a sneakbox I am sure I will learn all the tricks. Thanks for the help guys

Boat looks great Chris, you'll kill plenty of birds with that setup. I had my older boat grassed like that. The tall grass on the decoy racks lasted about 1 roundtrip.

Tim our coastal zone starts in a little over 2 weeks but the south zone is open I may go hunt that zone next week. I will do a refresh on the grass and put shorter grass on the racks looking at the pics its to high

Chris
That boat turned out really nice from what you started with .Good job. :)

Thanks, I am very happy with the turn out. Now I just can't wait to get her muddy and bloody.

Thanks steve but I am in the process of making one out of some old weathered burlap I have thanks though

Chris... I used burlap last year, one big problem with burlap is if it gets wet and freezes, you are SOL. The burplap becomes a solid burlapsicle!
I just purchased some acrylic military surplus desert camo mesh netting, I am going to make my cover out of that, then zip tie some rafia grass on top to break up the outline.
Do a search for outboard motor covers and my name and you will see the setup, someone suggested it to me and it looks pretty good.
Boat looks great, but yes... that grass will break down and wilt after awhile. I used similar grass on my boat and never extend it more than about 15 inches past my cockpit doors or by mid season it just falls over. The great thing about duckboats though, is you hunt a bit and learn a bit... The more you use the boat, the better ideas you will come up with... thats all part of the fun too!

Good luck!
