Gun help/advice

Steve, You are 100% correct... BUT... like it or not, when a topic is started on any internet forum, you immediately open yourself up for judgement...

already passed on it Todd....and then helped Mark with questions on listing it on an auction site....
Sorry to mess up your fix?....

Steve

Why THANK YOU for saying that Tod.....an endorsement like that from you of that level warrants having new business cards printed to include that as an accolade....

Steve

I knew how much it would mean to you.

Wow...I just wanted a little advice on how to sell a gun that may have value. A gun i no longer want nor have an attachment to. I have thick skin and while i may not appreciate the comments directed at me i did not intend to start a posting that would cause a ruckus on this site.

While some may not agree with my decision, i likewise do not agree with your comments. Lets just agree to disagree and refrain from attacking each other.

I appreciate all those who provided the assistance i originally asked for.

That's it......I QUIT!!

Me too! I can't stand this fighting..."Can't we all just get along?"

Seriously though, I have to agree with my predecessor, the guy just wants to sell a gun, ease off him a bit, I'm sure he's had plenty of time to think about it...I also have to agree with Steve again in that a "Thank you" from Tod is quite the badge of honor.

Chuck

PS Tod, you know I still love you...and I know you have thick skin!

Never did say "Thank you" to anyone in this thread, yet. But I will now say "Thank You" Chuck. I stand by what I've said, otherwise.

Mark,

I've been a little busy. I hadn't seen this until this morning. For advice, I'd offer you take your gun down to Pat Hogan at Rock Island Auction and get his input. He auctions guns all over the world. His appraiser has been in the business for decades and is a go to guy for many other auction houses.

If you hurry you might be able to get into the April auction. At any rate you'll get a fair appraisal. Vickie worked for this house and I've been able to view first hand some of the commissioned pieces he's handled over the years. I've always been impressed with how he handles his business

Mark,
My recommendation is to do whatever works for you.

Many years ago I inherited some handguns from a great uncle. My memories of my uncle were of great days spent together on and around Lake Superior. They were centered 100% around fishing and sailing and the guns didn't figure in the equation. I was young, poor and had recently started a family. I sold a Colt 1873 SAA black powder revolver to a collector and fed my family very well from the sale. I still have the paperwork and whenever I think about my uncle or the gun I remember how much it helped out when we were struggling. I have no regrets.
I still have a collection of sailing books and a split bamboo fishing pole built around 1915 that were my Uncle Bert's. Those I treasure and will pass on to my kid to do what they please.

You're right, you didn't say that, so you're still a prick, and I didn't quit

thank you.

I would certainly make sure there isn't someone in the family first that would appreciate having it. I'd be a little upset if I found out one of my relatives sold one of my granddads guns and didn't offer it to me or someone else in the family first. Just my opinion, it is certainly yours to do with as you wish but don't let this decision come back to bite you.
