Had a great day today on widgeons.

Mac and I got out at the crack of 3 PM. I set him up on a floating grass mat that wouldn't hold me and poled around the grass scaring stuff up. He ended up with four and I got 8 I think; a mixed bag of widgies, two teal, two pintails, and a ringer. There were mallards around but we never got a chance at any. Jenny did great and got some experience using her sniffer in the flooed grass as well as chasing down two birds that were just winged. It was a really nice warm day and I found all the same leaks in my waders that were there last year.

Some high country colors. Bit of snow at 4000 ft. That's early! We were looking for ptarmigans last evening, with no luck.

I'm always in awe at the scenic backdrop your able to hunt in... Thanks for sharing those pics..

I'm curious as to what camera your using??

Congrats on a fine hunt, Mike and Mac. Although I must say you are making me wish I had looked at the "help wanted" ads while I was there.

Keep the pics coming.

How do shooting times/ shooting light get regulated in the land of the midnight sun? Just curious. How early do you have to setup?

Always enjoy your posts Mike; your pictures are incredible and it's great to see the adventures of you and your son. Keep them coming.

P.S. Remember to fix your waders. It's tolerable now, but when it gets cold, you'll be downright miserable!

Hope your PT is going well too!!

It's only midnight sun in the summer, sundown is at 9 pm or so right now. We get to shoot 1 hr before sunrise until 1 hr after, which is sweet compared to a lot of places. Its pretty much too dark to see until too dark to see. We get really long twilights, even in the fall.

Oh ya, camera question - I use a Fuji Finepix S5000 with whatever lens it came in the box with. Its about 5 years old now. 6 mega pixels max.
