Well my dad saw me lusting after some of the calls that have been turned out on these pages. Sooooo...for my birthday he turned one for me. Here it is! Walnut mallard call.

BTW. I too think thats a fine looking call. Being an old fart and "DOM" ( dirty old man) I think all young gals are "fine looking" so Dani qualifies on that count also.

Not fair to start out the post with the word's "lusting". I've went days untold since youre canada goose hunt, lusting for the smile on your face. R u coming to Missouri with the Hitchman???

Hope it sounds as good as it looks. What day was your birthday? Mine was Friday and I treated myself to an overnight at the duck cabin with the grandson for our Sat. opener. Had a blast..no ducks to bag but saw about 10 or 12.
 
Thanks guys. I think the call sounds pretty good, but I'm no expert on mallard calls. I do need to figure out how to tune them though. I can usually get a good QUACK out of it. When he gave it to me I was eating dinner at O'Charleys having the best prime rib I've ever had and I couldn't help but blow a few notes there in the middle of dinner. Loved the looks on the faces of some of the other customers.

Kyle- Life's not fair now is it? Nope, I'm not going north with Hitch when he goes up there to hunt with ya. I'm staying down here, slaving for the almighty dollar so that I can go play later on. I'm sure it would be fun though.
 
My birthday was Sept 23. First day of fall!!!! AND right in the middle of teal season usually! But this time I was sitting on an airplane headed to Manitoba....
 
Ah but Lee, I am special. I was born on the fall equinox and that is a very special day indeed. Many countries and religions would claim that day as well as the month of september as a day or month to be celebrated for giving thanks for the fruits of their labor. What better day to choose to be born than on a day for celebrating hardwork throughout much of the year? (I'm sure my mother can identify with that.)

And the fall is such a magical time of year: trees start turning colors, birds begin migrating, it's a time of much feeding by many critters to fatten up for the winter, crazy people begin taking gear out of their sheds and getting their boats ready in preparation for duck season, etc etc etc. What better time of year to be born than that?

Did you know that Stonehenge and other such stone structures were positioned so that solstices and equinoxes could be determined? There's a useless but interesting fact for ya that I just learned :)

and if that doesn't convince you...I had my own special school bus when I went to high school...all to myself until my brother got into high school...it was even big and yellow
