Thanks, Chad. It has been a very good day. I split wood for a couple of hours, watched Jimmie Johnson win in Michigan, decided to watch The Jackal and now I will go out to eat since Bev is up in Wisconsin. My plans for tomorrow will be to take out Serrano and see if she will go fetch a bumper. My kids called and that made this day just about perfect!

Right back at ya all you Dad's. Big walk early this morning with the dog, then a nice bicycle ride. Spent the afternoon carving flying doves, under the big Norway Spruce while doves called all around. Just took Prime venison off the grill. Poured a nice Drink, and now it's family time. Thank God.
I had an exceptional day yesterday. Started with some bull work cleaning up the camp on Champlain, then back down (through the Adirondacks) to the farm. Son Ben was home from NYC for the weekend - and had mowed everything (all the "lawns around the buildings plus over a mile of hayroads and trails) after last week's big rains. The farm is in full summer greenery. Daughter Emily and son-in-law Folke called from Berlin - they are off today for 3 weeks of exploring the wilds of Namibia (former Southwest Africa). The day ended with a fine meal in town and then collapsing with Susan in front of a British mystery on TV. Now I will go fire up the wood splitter....and mail off my "swap bird" later today.
